Camel

The Camel originated in North America and migrated to Asia millions of years ago. The Bactrian Camel (Camelus bactrianus) has two humps and long hair, suited to harsh environments. Domesticated over 4,000 years ago, it was used along the Silk Road as a pack animal. Bactrian camels have reserves of fat in their humps, allowing them to survive long desert journeys. Their wool is used in textiles, and their robust physique allows them to carry heavy loads over long distances.
