Silk
Mulberry silk, produced by the Bombix mori silkworm, is the most common type of silk, mainly sourced from China. Silk manufacturing spread to Japan in the 4th century and reached Europe by the 13th century. The production of silk expanded in Italy, with regions like Lucca and Florence becoming famous for their textiles. Today, silk remains a luxury material, prized for its smoothness and strength, used in clothing, furnishings, and industrial applications.
